Day #2 Soft Story Part 1

Day #2

Soft Story Part 1

Soft story is a term often used in discussions about building earthquake resistant structures. Soft story when translated means soft floor. what does this mean? Is there also a term meaning Hard Story?

Just an analogy, we can be compared to high risk building as brick layers are stacked on a table. Each layer represents the floor of a building. Meanwhile there is another pile of bricks. But in the middle of the stack, there is one layer of bricks had sizable cavity in it.

Stacked    : ditumpuk (pile, heap, lot, bundle, mass)
Cavity      : rongga (hollow, socket, hole, hollow space)
